Notes: Conn Smythe Trophy does not necessarily go to a player on the Stanley Cup Winning team. Voting is done during the 2nd intermission of a deciding game. If that game ends up not ending the Stanley Cup, voting is scratched and started over in the next deciding game.
The Stanley Cup is the oldest trophy in all professional sports in North America. The first cup, called the Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup, was first awarded in 1893. The current look of the trophy was designed in 1947 by engraver Carl Petersen. Rings are added to the bottom of the trophy as the trophy fills up. All the names of the players on the championship team are engraved on the rings of the trophy.
